The Rocket Park

This weekend my son and I had the amazing experience of getting to camp overnight at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston. Along with about 100 other kids and family members, we got to have dinner with 4x Space Shuttle astronaut, Mike Baker, do all kinds of fun STEM activities, and get a tour of some amazing facilities and space relics. I took basically a million pictures. I'll post more as I process them, but in the meantime here are a bunch of detail photos from the Rocket Park, where they have a collection of historic rockets-- including a Mercury Redstone rocket and the only remaining flight ready Saturn V rocket left in the world.

Something about these historical items in a sparse warehouse setting, combined with the broad, sweeping geometric shapes adorned with incredibly complex wiring and piping that really got my tech heart aflutter. The pictures really don't do justice to the impossibly large scale of all these rocket stages. It's pretty incredible to see in person. Highly recommended.

Coffee Run

I drove past this little coffee van the other morning and decided I need to stop and give them a try. Delightful! I really appreciate when little businesses really sweat the details. It shows, and it definitely makes me want to come back.

Breakfast at Grandpa’s House

One of the great joys of visiting our family in the Northeast is getting to go to Grandpa’s house, nestled in the woods, not too far from the Bay. We chopped up some mushrooms into a very non traditional breakfast taco, raked leaves, and wandered out into the woods, finding all kinds of forgotten treasures…

Comics Run

The only Black Friday sale I partook in this week was at one of my favorite comic shops, Third Eye Comics. I had a fun walk over to the shop, and wound up running into a fellow Leica street shooter along the way... Small world!
